"No man can taste the fruits of autumn while he is delighting his scent with the flowers of spring."

 - Samuel Johnson

But one winemaker can taste the wines from last autumn while simultaneously processing the fruits from this autumn...

I took advantage of the calm before this year's harvest storm and snuck into the cellar to grab samples of our 2013 wines. Here is a quick video of my impressions so far.

And speaking of this harvest ...

I picked Clone 115 of our Pinot Noir from Fedrick Vineyard on 8/27. The fruit was wicked clean and packed with flavor. It just finished primary (alcoholic) fermentation and was pressed to barrel for its winter nap.

I'll be out sampling the Pommard clone on Friday morning. I might call the pick for as early as Monday. Stay tuned.

And if you haven't scoffed up your 2014 Wine Shares, now would be the time to do it. After two heavy years, this year's harvest is on the lighter side. Grab your shares here before they are all gone.
